The National Football League night series commenced.

1977 :
The VFL clubs withdrew from the National FL.
VFA clubs and Queensland clubs commenced in the NFL. Don’t know which actual ones.
Final - Norwood defeated Perth.

1978 - South Adelaide won the competition.

1979 :
Western Australian clubs withdrew from the NFL in 1979 to join the Australian Football Championship.
Queensland clubs and South Australian clubs competed.
South Adelaide won the competition.
This was the final season of the NFL.
